Burlington Arcade partners with Paramount Pictures’s BABYLON

We are delighted to launch our spectacular installation themed around the high-octane new film written and directed by Damien Chazelle, starring Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva.

Paramount Pictures’ Babylon, in cinemas January 2023, has collaborated with Burlington Arcade to bring the magic of the highly anticipated film release to life with an interactive experience celebrating the timeless appeal of the era in which the film is set. The installation, which launched on 21 November, decorates the entire length of the 196-yard arcade and will run until the end of January 2023.

Burlington Arcade was a favourite shopping destination for the stars in the 1920s, who used to visit the Arcade’s glamorous boutiques to find unique creations. This may well have included costume pieces from Ciro Pearls, which has been in the Arcade since 1917, when it was trading under its sister company name of Kane Lane, or from S.J. Rood, another jeweller that had been in the Arcade since 1873. S.J. Rood continued to trade from its Burlington Arcade location until the end of the century, when, in 1997, it was bought by Hancocks & Co., which took over the premises and has remained there ever since. From its opening in 1819, Burlington Arcade has retained its position as one of the key retail destinations in London where people can find a unique luxury offering. The new partnership with Babylon is the perfect way to celebrate the Arcade’s long history of glamour and luxury, and brings the magic of the Golden Twenties to life once more.

Designed by Amanda Davis from AD Events, the interactive experience transports visitors to a time of elegant excess, enabling them to experience the hedonistic spirit of Babylon while discovering the wide range of beautiful items on offer at Burlington Arcade – many of which are inspired by the period of the film. As part of the partnership, a Babylon pop-up boutique within the Arcade will showcase some of the costumes and props from the film.

Through this partnership, Burlington Arcade announces itself as the most festive destination in London, and the place where everyone can enjoy the best of Christmas shopping within a historical backdrop.
